We have a new toy!

Perfectly themed as winter approaches…. And yes, we play nice and are willing to share.

With the occasional relocation of equipment on the workout floor, I’ve been joking lately that FBD is becoming like Costco.  Always moving things around to keep us on our toes and look at some of the same things in new ways.  Well, it’s also to make room for new goodies!   Rob and Lisa have replaced an old ski machine with a new, improved, and just plain better, SkiErg machine.

Manufactured by Concept2, the tried and true company that makes our beloved full-body-workout indoor rower, the SkiErg also promises effective cross training.  Check it out.  It’s just inside the large group instruction room.  According to the manufacturer website, the SkiErg “helps you build strength and endurance by working the entire body in an efficient, rhythmic motion. Skiing is a low impact, high calorie burning exercise suitable for all ages and abilities. You are in complete control of the resistance: the harder you pull, the faster the flywheel spins, which creates more resistance.”  And WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE about RESISTANCE, eh?!  Unless, of course, it’s coming from your kids or significant other.  Then, it’s not so great.

And if you want to get a feel for skiing, this something to explore – without worrying about wiping out. Or buying a plane ticket.  Or renting a condo.  Or even actually skiing! Get in your workout before the snow comes – and even after, in the comfort of your own gym.  If you decide to hop on a plane to go north or west to play in the powder, then you’ll be that much more ready to take on the slopes.  And we won’t resent being left behind while you ski.  No really, we won’t take it personally at all.  (cough, cough)

FBD has been around town for 30 years.  Through various ups, downs, ins, outs, fads, cycles, trends… and we’ve held fast to one main thing: YOUR FITNESS.  We know what’s going on around us, what’s happening elsewhere in the world of fitness, what you’re interested in, and what actually works.  And we are here to provide it to you.  If you think of something we haven’t yet, we’d love your feedback.  We are here for the long term with and FOR YOU.

Thanks for playing with us. :)
