You know the drill.  New year, new you.  Yadda yadda yadda.  Sure, it’s a new year, but maybe the resolutions are the same as last year?  Pffft.  Um, yeah.  That’s not how it’s supposed to work - but unfortunately, it’s completely relatable.

Maybe we look at our goals as too big, too much, or too hard.  Let’s figure out how to change that!  Here’s a first step: Stop by the front desk area and write down your goal.  We will send you the goal again later in year and you can either celebrate your success or buckle down and crank it out before year end!  We’d welcome the opportunity to be an accountability partner for you!

Then what…? Check out these ideas:

  • A new year, a new season, a new life event, even just a new DAY is an opportunity to polish our rough spots and refine the beauty that’s developing within each of us.  You can tell from the FBD staff, FBD client base, and the FBD culture that we do REAL.  Even with bad days, bad knees, and bad habits.  Once you know where you are, you know how to start, and which direction to go.  That’s something to celebrate!  Communicate with your trainer.  How can we help you start a new habit?

  • Give some thought to what motivates you, what makes you thrive and what makes you feel productive?  Structure your goals with that in mind.   Me?  I like to feel and act like my best self, though I often fall off the wagon.  And when I do, I don’t like feeling shame.  Instead, I need to remember I’m HUMAN then I get back up and brush myself off.  Perhaps goal success increases if we give ourselves grace?  I’m willing to give that a go – how about you!

  • Have you written down the goal?  This “makes it real,” so to speak.  Then you can look at it and break it down to monthly, weekly, daily activities that will move you closer to your desired outcome.   When I have a big project, I can become overwhelmed and unproductive.  Making a big goal smaller makes it seem much more achievable.  AND I can scratch it off my list for the week.  Bonus!  Check out the table near our front desk where you can write it down right now.  We’ll mail it to you later to remind you what you said you’d do. ;).

  • Tell the people close to you what you want to do.  Little side comments here and there can either help keep you on track or derail you completely.   This is another way that a positive community can influence outcomes.  FBD wants to be part of your community that makes you feel like you’re always safe, getting stronger, and worthy of your time and energy commitment.

We love our industry, our work, our clients, our facility, and YOUR results.  Let’s celebrate what we can do together this year!

Real.  Positive.  Change.
